          Each issue of this newspaper was examined for births, marriages and deaths.  If a death was mentioned in a news item, then usually it was not also listed in the death notices.  Because of this, if I happened to notice the news item, I made note of the particulars given.  Below, that kind of death record begins with "News" instead of "Died".

          Places mentioned below are in the counties of Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Tioga, and Washington.  Also mentioned were Massachusetts, Canada, and England.

           

          The abbreviations inst. and ult., in the context in which they are used below, can be thought of as meaning 'of this month' and 'of last month', respectively.

          DELONEY  -  News - Murder - Jerry Deloney, an Irishman living about a mile below Hoosick Fall, brutally murdered his wife last Tues. night.  He was arrested and brought to Troy.  Rum did it.  (so states the editor of the paper)

          PENNINGTON  -  Died in this village, on the 19th ult, Ann Pennington a widow aged 26.  Left a little orphan girl in the 3rd year of her age without relative in this country.  The deceased left England 1 Sep 1850.

          RUNKLE  (FONDA)  -  Died of consumption, 28 aug 1851 at the residence of Isaac Fonda, Esq., Mrs. Frances Maria, wife of Mr. Isaac Runkle in the 20th yr of her age.  (Obituary was in next issue of 13 Sep 1851 - during her illness she was bapitzed and received full communion of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Cohoes.)

          SANDERS  -  Died on Wed. morning the 10th inst., Mrs. Mary A. wife of Mr. Jerome Sanders.  Funeral was Thursday at Presbyterian church.

          SECOR  -  News - Inquest held Sunday morning last at W. Troy on the body of Mr. J. Secor, formerly of Fishkill but at the time of death connected with Barnums Menagerie.  He was caught between braces of the bridge and a wagon and crushed to death on Saturday afternoon.  He was about 25 yrs of age and has a brother in Fishkill.

          STEPHENSON  -  News - Inquest held - James Stephenson formerly of Albany but recently of Green Island fell and fractured skull.  Found Monday morn.  He was about 55 yrs of age.

          TEN EYCK  -  Died in this village on the 9th inst., Angeline R. Ten Eyck, in the 24th year of age.  She left a husband and 3 little children.

          WHITE  -  Died on the 23rd ult., Florilla daughter of Hon. Hugh White of consumption aged 20.

          WORDEN  -  Died in Cohoes on 27th ult., Mr. Joseph A. Worden in 65th year of age.  He left a widow, 3 sons and 1 daughter.  Some years since he was thrown from a wagon, his skull was fractured and has since been insane.  About 10 years before the accident he professed religion and joined Methodist E[piscopal] Church and lived pious life.
